Demonstrates that a magnetic field exerts force on current carrying wire.
Equipment:
1. Blue horseshoe magnet & circuit composed of D-cell in holder, switch, & wire loop on a Styrofoam support.
Procedure:
1. Close the switch one direction and notice the direction in which the wire moves.
2. Close the switch in the opposite direction and again notice the direction of wire movement.
3. The magnet can be rotated to show another way of changing direction of wire movement.
