Tell which of the two bars is magnetized without using any other materials?
Equipment:
1. Two chrome-plated iron rods of the same size, length, and cross section. (One magnetized, one not.)
Procedure:
1. Touch the end of one bar to the middle of the other bar.
2. If the bars “stick” then the one whose end is touching is the magnetized one.
3. If the bars do not “stick”, then the one whose end is touching, is the nonmagnetized one.
4. A magnetized bar is “neutral” in the middle.
