Demonstrates how electricity can be utilized to magnetize a metal bar.
Equipment:
1. The ‘magnetizer apparatus’
2. Box of thin aluminum strips (1/4” x 3”)
3. A metal bar or weak magnet
Warning: Do not open while plugged in to the wall outlet.
Procedure:
1. Place object to be magnetized into coil.
2. Place one strip of aluminum between the metal clamps within the apparatus.
3. Close the plexiglas door (make sure it goes all the way down) and plug the apparatus in.
4. Push the switch and the foil will blow up to quickly burn through and break the circuit.
5. Pull out the magnetized object and test it with some paper clips.
6. Unplug from the wall outlet.
